Jim Graham Youth Scholarship

Applications are being accepted for the Jim Graham Youth Scholarship for 2010.

High School seniors (or those just graduated in 2010) interested in applying for the Jim Graham Youth Scholarship need to submit an application in writing before July 12, 2010.

In order to qualify for the scholarship, the applicant must either be a current associate youth member of SCLA or their immediate family (mother/father) must be a current adult member of the Association. Current members are those whose dues are paid for 2010.

The scholarship is for $500 per semester for the first year of college.
It is required that the scholarship winner provide a copy of his/her grades to the scholarship committee and the SCLA Treasurer at the end of each semester to verify that a passing average is being maintained and the winner qualifies for the next $500. Total scholarship value is $1,000.

Applicants should write a 1-page essay describing their background with llamas, where they plan to attend college, and their anticipated degree program. Please include a photograph of yourself with the essay.

Include a grade transcript from your high school.

Applicants must also submit two letters of recommendation from teachers, community leaders or club sponsors.

Essays and transcripts are to be mailed to:

SCLA J. Graham Scholarship Committee
PO Box 163654
Austin, TX 78716-3654

Letters of recommendation may be mailed separately - also to SCLA - but ALL parts of the application must be received by July 12, 2010.

The winner of the scholarship will be announced in the fall issue of the Humming Herald.
